Overview

The season typically starts with practice in March, usually in the gyms until weather permits to be outside.  Games start at the end of April or early May and go through mid July.

  • It requires a high degree of commitment from both players and parents.
  • Games\Practices are mixed in throughout the week, usually 2 nights a week, possibly on a weekend.
  • Usually have 1 to 2 tournaments on a weekend through the summer.
  • Travel to games/tournaments usually within 1 hour of Ellsworth.

The traveling competitive baseball program of the EBSA strives to promote the highest level of competitive baseball/softball play, while attracting highly skilled players who have the desire,
determination, dedication, and discipline necessary to improve their skills.  We play games and tournaments through the Metro Baseball League (MBL).

The traveling competitive program goals;

(1) Provide an atmosphere that is conducive to learning the
game, developing skills, and results in a positive experience for participants,

(2) To provide the most competitive opportunities and field the best possible teams within an enjoyable environment while prepping them for high school level of play,

(3) Field the best players for teams to each competitive level,

(4) Promoting the principles of teamwork and sportsmanship, and

(5) Coaches will make every effort to ensure all players with playing time, but playing time and/or equal paying time will not be
guaranteed.

Traveling baseball is known to have a higher level of competitiveness than recreational baseball. A lot of players considering to make the jump to traveling ball should be made aware of the following:

  • Traveling ball is significantly more expensive than recreational. It can incur costs from higher level coaching, more practice time, proper equipment, proper uniform, and travel expenses.
  • There is no guarantee of playing time. The best players play.
  • There is an increased chance for high level development. Players looking to play in college and beyond should seriously consider joining a traveling team
  • You will be required to try out and will be placed on a team according to skill evaluations, coaches’ evaluations, age requirements, grade, team sizes, and the EBSA baseball philosophy.
  • Rules are generally more closely related to high school or college baseball.

Eligibility

(a) Eligible participants must reside or be open enrolled within the Ellsworth School District
(b) Additional players may be added if the teams need players beyond those in the Ellsworth School District:
    (i) If the community where the additional player lives has a  league at the player’s level: Baseball cannot add players to EBSA teams if the player has a program in their home town.
